Am I too funny for you?…

Romantic Relationships are complicated. They are confusing and crazy, comforting and encouraging, destined to happen and worked hard on.. And it’s not uncommon to take it too seriously; after all, it’s a commitment with a lot of time and energy invested.
.
However, being serious all the time can bring us to rigidity and inflexibility which are not helping in a long run. And it’s important to have fun, to goof around, and to be able to laugh at one’s self. With time, all of us get used to our partner and with that comfort people may shift from exciting, romantic and respectful nature of the romantic bond towards more laid back and sibling-like interaction. And sometimes it is quite fun shifting from formal to informal love, but is there a limit?
.
Minor jokes may seem harmless, even when done on a regular basis. But how can we truly know if the jokes WE make about our PARTNER are truly harmless? We don’t have the same history, experience, family, culture, etc. We CANNOT know for sure if the joke we are about to make is actually appropriate. Some people can be discreet and not mention that something may offend them in one way or another, but by accumulating such moments for some time, they may become a ticking time bomb; the end may not look pretty at all. There are those, who will immediately show their reaction and/or even overreaction to the smallest jokes.. No one can say which is worse. And what if the jokes are used with other people present and individual becomes a center of a laughter party? What if that joke continues and keeps hurting our partner for a while and we have no idea?..
.
Communication is always the key. And One has to be willing to talk about his/her and another One has to listen. Feeling the partner and his/her mood is essential. Being sensitive and maintaining appropriate boundaries regarding the subject of a joke is crucial. Taking responsibility for the mistakes made and not being afraid to apologize can create miracles within the relationship. Maintaining the first-date respect can save couples from falling apart.
.
Love, cherish and have fun!
And, I love you!
